Indian Government does not give cricket a status!

Indian Government which is known to govern much of the Sports, Athletics and any other events in India related to sports do not give any special status to Cricket. The BCCI which is a semi-autonomous facilitator for all matches in India and abroad could be seen facilitating the sports. The services by the organization have given much upliftment to the sports as it has built up stadiums all across the country.
Now, the fact of the matter is that although the state cricket comities facilitate the players and help in developing the sports when it comes to governing the International Cricket Council, the matches along with players are given benefits only by the BCCI.
The state Ranji Trophy along with the various other matches could be seen with no takers and neither the sponsors nor the players are given any importance. Most of the state-level players neither reach the international level nor they are allowed to play IPL. The IPL matches which have got momentum under Mr. Lalit Modit who developed the initiative has seen the participation of foreign players rather than involvement of domestic players which does not give any long term benefits to the game.
If you will closely watch the various players such as Sri Kapil Dev along with Mr. Anshuman Gaekwad they could be seen serving at various places where the public could easily recognize them but they just do not have enough in terms of facilities in life and their life may seem to be futile in one way or other. (Although, none of us could say clearly the game does not give any importance to retired players.)
Now, getting back to the thought that if the Indian Government does not give cricket a status then how can we give much importance to this game as compared to athletics, swimming, football, and hockey. The fact of the matter is that we as Indians do not give importance to sports like Basketball. Volleyball and even sports like Kabaddi but for us blindly following the game which is adapted by not more than 12 countries in the world has led to the downfall of the sporting nation which was also a prime contender into Olympics.
It is necessary that the mindset should change as Cricket is no more a lucrative game as it neither gives a Government job nor it is categorized under the Indian Government and even a game like Carrom Board comes under the Carrom Federation which shows that one could develop skills into any other game instead of spending 20 years into Cricket and then could see any person from your neighborhood selling Guthkha or any such items after leaving International Cricket.
